Vino d’Oro
The Spring has finally sprung in the southern hemisphere today, and we find ourselves doing a bit of the Olde Golden Argybargy! (argee-bargee)
As you know by now dear reader, we are lucky enough to have an office in both capital cities, Buenos Aires and London, and thank you very much to W/Searcher for this super award. We are again in good company as Argentina not only has their large river named Rio de la Plata (River of Silver). But also their Premier League Football team, and not Boca Jnrs, is know locally as Los Millionarias (The Millionaires) or officially Club Atlético River Plate. Plate or La Plata in the local dialect refers to mainly Silver, but also to Gold.
Today, W/S also issued a golden 2024 report on the state of the current local fine wine market.
Overall, the benchmark price for Argentinian wine has risen by 25% or thereabouts over the past decade. That’s a very gentle incline and one that doesn’t suggest any immediate danger of sudden skyrocketing price inflation. However, the country’s economy can be a volatile beast (a bit like the current president) and there is no telling what effect macroeconomic headwinds might have in the future.
But right now it looks like a pretty good time for investors and wine lovers to take a look at adding some more Argentina to their collections.
