1989 Barolo Bric del Fiasc Paolo Scavino

I have tried this wine three times over the last fifteen years. Some chums get together and we taste it every five years to see how it is coming along.

1989 Barolo Bric del Fiasc Paolo Scavino

Always poured from a double magnum, as we are few, the wine is still striking for its freshness. Some of that is a factor of the 3000mls of wine in the one format. Yummy flavors of tobacco, herbs, spices, plums and licorice with the depth, muscle and concentration of the modern Barolo school. The 1989 is a touch more layered and aromatically intesne than the 1990 that we tried a few months ago, with a little more length and overall complexity.

Tar, smoke and licorice linger on an eternal finish. I only have two left.
